On the morning of our Flag Day, at about 7 am I saw that the sky was a little hazy. My first concern was, “Oh no! We do not want the haze to spoil our day.” An hour later, when the hazy look and feel outside did not alter much, I sent a message to all the persons-in-charge at our various reporting stations, to recall all volunteers selling flags on the streets should the haze get any worse. We also had masks on standby for all to use.
However, my misgiving were wrong as very shortly after, the heavens opened with a bountiful outpouring of rain from the sky. It did wonders to clear the air and cool the day. We also thank God that when the rain abated, we had ample time to carry on with the fund raising effort for COH.
The early morning showers of blessings did not dampen the spirit of our volunteers and staff. Everyone went about excitedly collecting donations from members of the public on the streets, as well as by knocking on doors from house to house.
